Monaro Farming Systems is a progressive, farmer-led producer group representing farm businesses across the Monaro region of southern NSW
We aim to:
- Provide members with proven, relevant and targeted information which improves knowledge and profitability
- Provide a forum to focus on and manage research, development and extension on the Monaro
- Provide opportunities for members to interact and exchange ideas
- Be member owned and driven
- Continue to develop partnerships by seeking the involvement of individuals and organisations in the pursuit of our objectives
- Improve the level of capability / capacity of the whole Monaro grazing community to lift performance and improvement.

Members Farming in Focus Photo Competition: DOGGED
MFS is excited to announce our Members Farming in Focus Photography Competition is back for another year. The 2026 MFS Photography competition celebrates dogs – their grit, loyalty and the role they play in all aspects of life on Monaro farms.

Cecil Brown Scholarship
The Cecil Brown Scholarship supports young people aged 18-30 from the Monaro sheep and wool industry to broaden their skills, knowledge and networks through travel, further education and hands-on learning opportunities.
Applicants should live in, or have a strong connection to the Monaro and be actively involved in the sheep and wool industry.

Peter Westblade Scholarship Training Weekend
MFS is pleased to support the Peter Westblade Scholarship Training Weekend being held at Jimenbuen from 20–22 November 2026. Organised by the Peter Westblade Scholarship, the weekend is open to young people aged 18–30.
Applications are now open through the Peter Westblade Scholarship website.
Soil Samples Due by Friday 30th of October
Soil Club
MFS members—it’s time to get your soil samples!
Soil testing helps you understand what your pastures need and where your fertiliser dollars are best spent. Regular testing also helps track changes in soil fertility over time.
This year, boron testing is included for every sample, along with pH (CaCl₂) and Phosphorus Buffer Index (PBI) testing across all packages. Members also have soil test credit included in their membership.
Please have your samples back by Friday 30 October. You’ll find the sampling instructions and drop-off details in your kit
